We were expecting the government to respond to the consultation on the design of the community wealth fund in May and make clear its intentions about the fund. However, this didn’t happen before the election was announced and parliament dissolved.

Local Trust is publishing a manifesto today setting out its agenda for a new government which asks for an expansion of the community wealth fund and a return to the vision for the fund outlined by the Alliance. In particular a targeting of the doubly disadvantaged communities that need the funding most – the 10 per cent most deprived on the IMD which also rank amongst the 10 per cent with the least social infrastructure on the Community Needs Index (CNI). It also asks the next government to consider contributing additional funds from underspends on existing Levelling Up Funds to increase the number of communities that are able to benefit from the programme. Please share the manifesto and get the message out.

Thanks to all of you for your continued support for the community wealth fund – it’s what made the campaign so successful – and please remember to advocate for it in your work to influence the next government. With a shout out to NCVO and ACEVO for highlighting the need to build on the Community Wealth Fund in their joint manifesto!
